| Description: |
Turning a former grocery store into the Southeast Missouri Hospital Health Point Plaza is not only good for supporting a healthy community but also environmentally intelligent.
Through the guidance of Integrated Architecture and Counsilman-Hunsaker, Southeast Missouri Hospital transformed the former Albertson’s building into adaptive reuse. Thus, redeveloping older buildings where utility infrastructure and ingress/egress already exists preserves green fields, specie habitats, and natural resources in undisturbed areas.
The primary fitness concourse houses a full-court basketball gymnasium, state-of the art fitness center, and three aerobic studios. With a significant community response, the plaza not only offers traditional health and fitness activities but also provides a light-filled aquatic atrium, offering rejuvenation of the mind and body with:
•Warm-water therapy pool strategically designed in a 30 ft. by 40 ft. swimming pool •Whirlpool spa
